Children's eye clinics
These are conducted at the Children's Specialist Centre, which is especially suited to the needs of children and their parents. Dr Bedggood also sees some children at Fendalton Eye Clinic when they live in that area of town.
Most common children's eye problems require a thorough assessment including measurement of vision & eye alignment, examination for complex problems, and cycloplegic eye drops (enlargement of the pupil and relaxing the focus muscles). These drops take 30 minutes to work, and allow measurement of refractive error (need for glasses) and an examination of the retina and optic nerve inside the child's eye.

Correction of adult double vision and 'Squint' (Misalignment)
Adults suffer from strabismus (squints), may or may not have had previous surgery, and frequently find them very significant problems. Dr Bedggood will be able to accurately assess your problem, and discuss and plan surgery. He prefers to see patients with misaligned eyes at his practice in Colombo street which is set up specifically to manage this type of problem.

Adult general eye problems
Adults may experience a wide range of eye symptoms and problems, some of which may be sight threatening. We look for glaucoma and cataract & retinal diseases during a thorough eye check. If necessary Dr Bedggood can perform a range of sophisticated tests to help manage glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and other common and uncommon diseases.
Most adults, especially any urgent problems, are seen through the Fendalton Eye Clinic.

Adult minor operations
Dr Bedggood can perform almost all procedures not involving surgery inside your eye or general anasthesia in the convenience of a local Eye Clinic.
Larger operations
Surgery for cataracts, Strabismus, and childhood eye problems such as excessive watering (Congenital nasolacrimal duc obstruction), eyelid lumps and rarer problems is performed at Southern Cross Hospital. This is a regular morning operating list on either Tuesday or Fridays, and most patients are home by lunchtime or early afternoon.
